Massage Therapy At Resnick Chiropractic Clinic

Most individuals experience various physical and/or emotional discomforts which may or may not be at the level of conscious awareness. Our certified massage practitioner, Shelly Clinton, provides an educational environment where the client gains insight into his or her emotional and physical welfare. The combination of heightened awareness and the healing benefits of massage weakens the self-imposed barriers toward reaching one's maximum potential. Massage therapy releases contracted muscles and acts on the nervous system to relieve the body's response to stress, allowing healing to take place. Shelly has studied various modalities including Swedish massage, Therapeutic Touch, Healing Touch, Polarity, Reflexology and Shiatsu. The main modality Shelly uses is the Swedish massage, although she incorporates a little of everything, making your massage a truly healing experience. Swedish Massage consists of a set of five basic manipulations, passive stretching and rotating movements systemized by Peter Ling in the 18th century. Based on an understanding of anatomy and physiology, the manipulations are applied to the lubricated skin and soft tissues of a passive recipient for physiological benefits. Some of the many benefits are that massage improves metabolism, removes the effects of muscular fatigue, improves circulation and skin vitality as well as the immune system, reduces stress, tension and anxieties of everyday life and also heightens body awareness and sensitivity.
In our office, Shelly makes sure that the patient is at ease with every aspect of the massage. If someone is not comfortable with something, all they have to do is tell her. The patient is warmly welcomed into an inviting room with soft lighting, candles and music of their choice. On your first massage visit in our office, Shelly will go over the basic procedure as well as any particular problem areas the patient may have. During the massage, the patient has the choice of chatting with Shelly or to simply enjoy the peacefulness. When the massage is over, the patient is reminded how important it is to drink lots of water. During a massage, there are lots of toxins that are stirred up, and it is important to flush them out rather than let them settle.
Massage therapy is very beneficial to anyone's health and also is a great addition to chiropractic care. A treat for the mind, body and spirit. Massage therapy will relax, refresh and revive.
